Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 July 2026
PressMotion Media Pte. Ltd. ("PressMotion", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 ("PDPA") of Singapore and subsidiary legislation issued by the Personal Data Protection Commission ("PDPC"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and disclose it, how long we retain it, and the rights available to you.
By using pressmotion.pro, submitting our contact form, subscribing to our newsletter, or consenting to optional cookies, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. Where consent is required, we obtain it through unticked checkboxes or explicit cookie-banner choices — never through pre-ticked boxes.

PressMotion is an independent digital news publication. We process personal data to operate our newsroom, respond to readers and comply with applicable law — not to sell personal data as a standalone product.
2. Personal data we collect
Personal data means data about an individual who can be identified from that data or from that data and other information to which we have or are likely to have access. Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
2.1 Contact and enquiry forms
- Full name
- Email address
- Subject selection (e.g. news tip, correction request)
- Message content you voluntarily provide
- PDPA consent flag and submission timestamp (Asia/Singapore)
We use a hidden honeypot field ("website") for spam deterrence. If completed by automated bots, the submission is silently discarded without storing personal data.
2.2 Newsletter and membership
- Email address
- Name (if provided)
- Billing identifiers processed by payment partners (we do not store full payment card numbers)
- Subscription status and communication preferences
2.3 Analytics and cookies (with consent)
- Approximate location derived from IP address (city/country level)
- Device type, browser version and referring URL
- Pages viewed and session duration in aggregate form
- Cookie identifiers as described in our Cookie Policy
2.4 Story tips and confidential sources
If you submit a news tip, we may process additional information you choose to provide, including documents or contact details for verification. Where you request confidentiality, we limit internal access and do not publish identifying details without consent unless there is an overriding journalistic or legal justification documented internally.
2.5 Technical logs
Our servers automatically record technical data necessary for security and troubleshooting: IP address, user agent, request timestamps and error codes. We treat IP addresses as personal data where they can identify an individual.
3. Purposes of collection, use and disclosure
We collect personal data only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances. Primary purposes include:
- Responding to enquiries, correction requests, press messages and news tips
- Delivering newsletter and membership services you request
- Operating, securing and improving pressmotion.pro
- Measuring aggregate readership with analytics tools (if consented)
- Delivering and measuring clearly labelled advertising (if consented)
- Complying with legal obligations, court orders and regulatory requests
- Protecting our rights, users and the integrity of our journalism
We do not use personal data to determine editorial coverage in exchange for payment. Advertising relationships do not influence news decisions.
4. Legal bases and consent
Under the PDPA, we rely on:
- Consent — for contact-form processing (via the consent_pdpa checkbox), newsletter subscriptions, and optional analytics/advertising cookies
- Legitimate interests — for network security, fraud prevention and internal reporting, balanced against your interests
- Legal obligation — where retention or disclosure is required by Singapore law
- Business purposes exception — where applicable for operational data that is not used to individually target you for marketing without consent
You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing [email protected]. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal, and we may still process data where another basis applies.
5. Disclosure of personal data
We may disclose personal data to:
- Service providers (hosting, email delivery, payment processing, analytics) bound by confidentiality and data-protection terms
- Professional advisers (lawyers, auditors) under duty of confidentiality
- Regulators or law enforcement when required by law or to protect vital interests
- Successors in the event of a reorganisation, provided protections continue
We do not sell your personal data. Cross-border transfers, if any, are conducted with appropriate safeguards consistent with PDPA requirements.
6. Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes collected:
- Contact form records: up to 24 months unless a longer period is needed for active follow-up or legal claims
- Newsletter/subscriber data: until you unsubscribe plus a short suppression window to honour opt-out
- Cookie consent records: 180 days, then refreshed
- Server security logs: typically 90 days unless investigation requires longer
- Confidential source material: limited-access retention per internal editorial policy
When retention ends, we delete or anonymise data unless archival is required by law.
7. Your rights under the PDPA
Subject to exceptions in the PDPA, you may:
- Request access to personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data
- Withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent
- Request information about how we have used or disclosed your personal data within the prior year upon written request
Submit requests to [email protected]. We respond within reasonable timeframes prescribed by law. We may charge a reasonable fee for manifestly unfounded or excessive access requests. We will verify your identity before releasing sensitive information.
8. Do Not Call (DNC) Registry
Where we send marketing messages to Singapore telephone numbers, we check against the DNC Registry unless an exception applies (e.g. you have provided clear and unambiguous consent in writing for that channel, or you have an ongoing business relationship and the message concerns similar services). Email newsletter messages are sent only with consent collected through sign-up or membership flows.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
Optional cookies are disabled until you consent via our banner. See the Cookie Policy for categories, vendors, durations and opt-out instructions. Necessary cookies include consent storage for six months.
10. Security
We implement administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we hold: HTTPS transport, access controls for newsroom systems, staff training on confidentiality and vendor due diligence. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we work to reduce risk proportionally.
11. International transfers
Some service providers we use may process personal data outside Singapore — for example, analytics or email-delivery platforms hosted in the United States or European Union. Where we transfer data overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure recipients provide a standard of protection comparable to that required under the PDPA, including contractual safeguards and vendor assessments. You may request further details about specific transfers by writing to our Data Protection Officer.
12. Children
pressmotion.pro is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
13. Third-party links
Our articles may link to external sites we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to read them before submitting personal data elsewhere.
14. Complaints to the PDPC
If you have concerns about our data practices, contact our DPO first so we can try to resolve them. You may also lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Commission:
